Viewed from left to right, Elmer Patterson, Yucaipa Junior Marines Cadet Jim Gilliam, Cadet Kenneth Patrick, and Jim Martines work on a Flag Hill Park addition commemorating the town’s World War II veterans.

The post-World War II era brought a building boom with Yucaipa’s first subdivisions. Pictured is a group of new Fiesta homes called Mountain View Heights on the west side of Bryant Street, seen toward the top of the photograph. Streets in the subdivision include Mountain View, Vineyard, and Velardo. The three- and four-bedroom homes sold for about $9,000 apiece.
